Laureen Lazarovici, Commissioner

Laureen recently retired from the Kaiser Permanente Labor Management Partnership, which brings together unionized workers, managers, and physicians to improve service and quality. During her 15 years as a senior communications consultant at the Partnership, Laureen has chronicled the stories of people using proven performance improvement methods to make health care better for patients and communities. 


Now she’s preparing for a new career as a community college professor by pursuing a master’s degree in political science at California State University, Los Angeles. 


A graduate of UCLA, Laureen stays involved with her undergraduate alma mater as a board member of the Daily Bruin Alumni Network. She has also served as alumni representative to UCLA’s undergraduate student government. She was on the board of the Pilipino Workers Center.  


Laureen began her journalism career at the L.A. Weekly newspaper in the 1990s, covering City Hall. Since then, she’s been a journalist and communications strategist in Los Angeles, Sacramento, and Washington, D.C. She lives in Sherman Oaks with her husband, Victor Narro, a UCLA professor and member of the Board of Airport Commissioners.
