Project Sanitary Stations (12/10/2019 : $40,000)

This pilot aims to reduce the number of pathogens brought in to LAPD’s Central Division, which result in an increase in illnesses and workers’ compensation claims among officers.  LAPD officers have been contracting viruses and diseases at an alarming rate and that the main contributor to pathogens entering a facility is on the soles of shoes. Through the pilot, officers would utilize HealthySole UV shoe sanitizer, which is stated to kill 99.9% of pathogens on the soles of shoes in eight seconds. If successful, this pilot would reduce the number of officers contracting illnesses and diseases as well as help LAPD determine the long-term viability and durability of the machines.
